Last week, a team of four Russian programmers won the 2013 international PayPal Battle Hack, reported RIA Novosti.

PayPal’s Battle Hack 2013 offered teams from Moscow, Berlin, Washington, London, New York, Tel Aviv, Seattle, Barcelona, Miami and Austin 24 hours to develop a completely new service that would be introduced by PayPal. The competition was held in California on November 16-17 and judged by PayPal’s President, the Director of PayPal’s Developer Network and a number of other important IT specialists.

The winning Moscow-based team (Bayram Annakov, Oksana Tretyakova, Sergey Pronin and Alexander Balaban) developed mobile service DonateNow, which allows the collection of donations using PayPal’s blue tooth Beacon technology. Having received a prize of $100,000 and a souvenir ax, they are planning to further develop the DonateNow service.

The second prize went to a team from Tel Aviv, which submitted an application for joint cross-country training, RunPal. Finally, the third prize winner from Miami proposed a service for small short-term loans, LoanPal.
